Pilates Mat Classes
The goal of a mat Pilates class is to strengthen the body’s “powerhouse,” a Pilates term that refers to your abdominals, lower back muscles, pelvic floor, hips and glutes. Through a series of floor exercises using resistance bands, various balls, discs, rings, etc., Pilates workouts helps build, sculpt and tone all your muscles, giving your body the long, lean look you’ve always wanted.
Pilates can also aid in flexibility and improve posture, as stretching your body is a vital part of class. While low-impact, Pilates burns fat during and after class, as your muscles continue to shed calories long after class ends.
Many fitness regimens promise results, whether you’re looking for flexibility, endurance, or muscle tone. The effectiveness of mat Pilates has been extensively studied, and research strongly supports receiving amazing results. Improved flexibility in the back, the hamstrings, and the upper body, as well as improved balance and muscle endurance, have been recognized by countless studies. Evidence also suggests that Pilates improves psychological well-being and life perspective. A Stronger Body = A Stronger Mind.
These are just a few of the great reasons to start practicing mat Pilates. Whether you’re taking one of our classes or taking your mat on the go, these exercises offer a better body and mind.
